Caribbean Stud

Renowned gambling strategist and celebrated writer David Sklansky has caused a commotion by laying a claim to the creation of the casino favorite Carribean Stud. Sklansky recently made the claim in an article on twoplustwo.com, a website where he is a moderator, partial shareholder and regular contributor to the site’s fortnightly magazine. Noone until now has been able to lay claim to the creation of the game Caribbean Poker. Several tales have come out over the past twenty years regarding the true origins of the game. While many of the particulars differ, the contrasting stories all concur that the game was first played in the Caribbean region. Now, through Sklansky’s revelation, it seems the games origins lie in the United States and not the Caribbean region. David Sklansky says that he originally came up with the idea for the game back in 1982. Casino Poker, Sklansky’s game utilised 5 card stud poker rules and hand scores and every person in the game would play their hand vs the casino. While largely the same in the underlying rules, Casino Poker and Carribean Stud Poker did have a few important differencesformatting, progressive jackpots are used to make the game more attractive via five and six figure jackpot sums and the dealer exposes only the final card they are given. In the first version of the game, the dealer had to uncover two of his cards and there were no associated jackpot booties.
